No. 6 is one of the earliest instruments in my work, yet it already reflects much of the design language that continues in my current guitars. When it was completed, it confirmed for me that the core direction I was pursuing had taken shape earlier than expected.
Built on the same overall concept as my later instruments, No. 6 combines a Carnal-inspired body and neck geometry with an elevated, player-adjustable fingerboard and traditional Hauser-style fan bracing. From the beginning, my goal has been consistent: to create instruments that respond naturally to the player and allow the music to remain at the center.
The soundboard is master-grade Alpine Swiss spruce, paired with Indian rosewood back and sides, Indian rosewood bridge and headplate, and a Honduran mahogany neck. The result is a warm, open, and balanced voice with strong definition, depth, a quick response, and the projection expected of a concert instrument.
No. 6 has been my personal daily player for over a year. It is fully played in and has opened up into a responsive, mature instrument with a settled, expressive voice. It offers strong sustain, with basses that are punchy, well defined, and articulate, while maintaining balance across the register.
No. 6 shows how early the foundation of my design approach began to take form. It is not a departure from my current work, but an early and complete expression of it.
Every guitar I build is made entirely by hand in my California workshop, one instrument at a time. Even at this stage, I was guided by the same principle that continues to shape my work today: the finest instruments serve the music first.

No. 11 brings together many of the ideas I’ve been refining over the past several years as both a classical guitarist and luthier. It is, to date, the instrument that most fully reflects my approach to guitar making—built to respond effortlessly to the player while allowing the music to remain at the forefront.
Its voice begins with an uncommon choice of tonewoods: a Port Orford cedar soundboard paired with figured Port Orford cedar back and sides. The result is an instrument of remarkable warmth, color, and individuality, with a visual character every bit as distinctive as its sound. Madagascar rosewood appointments—including the bridge and headplate—provide an elegant contrast to the cedar and complete the instrument’s understated aesthetic.
While the body and neck are inspired by the Carnal concept, incorporating an elevated, player-adjustable fingerboard, the heart of the guitar remains a traditional Hauser-style fan bracing system. My intention was to bring together modern ergonomics with the warmth, character, and expressive voice of a fine traditional classical guitar. The result is an instrument that responds naturally to the smallest changes in touch, offering a broad palette of colors while maintaining clarity and balance.
Each guitar I build is documented throughout its making. No. 11 will include a handmade “babybook” with photographs and notes from the build process, offering a quiet record of the instrument’s creation and its journey from raw materials to finished guitar.
Every guitar I build is made entirely by hand in my California workshop, one instrument at a time. I build only a small number each year, allowing every detail to receive the attention it deserves. My philosophy is simple: the finest instruments serve the music first. My hope is that No. 11 becomes not only a trusted concert instrument, but a lifelong musical companion for its next owner.
